Happy New Year & 4th Birthday Release Special!

Happy New Year & Birthday Release Special!

As per the usual, Sense's birthday falls almost exactly on New Year's Day so we've merged our holiday release with our birthday one! This year marks the 4th year Sense has been around, and we're finally entering into our Pre-K years. This year though, we have a lot of announcements so please do try to read them all.

First, I would like to thank everyone who responded to our call about needing cleaners. A lot of people applied and joined our group over the holidays and we could not be more pleased. This means that a lot of our series have been saved from the drop-axe and you'll probably see releases become more regular again.

Second, you'll likely see that our download links for chapters has moved to zippyshare. The main reason is due to the influx of DMCA companies who keep flagging our account for hosting anime. (We aren't but... DMCA companies aren't fun to fight against.) So, we're using zippyshare from now on. What does that mean? It means that each file has a 30-day life-span from when it was last downloaded until it's deleted. This probably won't pose a problem for most people, but it's good to keep in mind to download your chapters as they're released. And well, if it's gone by the time you go to download, there's probably a torrent of it somewhere. Or you can just rip it from our reader. That works too. (Hell most aggregators probably do that.)

Third, as you might be aware, recently some other groups have been dropping their monthly magazine series due to the raw provider no longer providing. Since we happen to use the same provider, the same applies to us. It's actually good timing for us since Sense no longer has the capacity to scanlate monthly mangas. Therefore, Magus has been dropped and Rain will be moving to volumes. We had thought about using volumes for Magus, but Maigo is already using those to scan their version and we have 0 interest in scan wars if we can avoid it. As for Rain, after chapter 52 is released, it will be moving to volumes. Which means you might have a fair wait between chapters, depending on when the next volume is released and scan times and so forth.

Fourth, and this is fairly important, both Tammi and I are retiring from scanlation effective immediately (or more-or-less). We will be passing off Sense to both Frogmage and Royalblue over the next few weeks. We have our own blurbs below about why, but we want to wish Froggy and RB the best in taking over, and also that all of the regulars who come and visit treat them well in the future too. Tammy and I also have one last gift to the scanlation community that we're working on right now, and we hope that when we're done people will find it useful. No release date for that yet though. ;)

Aoi

I first joined Sense around 3.5 years ago when Magi needed translators and I accidentally got hooked on it while binge reading stuff. At first I thought "Oh a nice weekly adventure manga! It won't be too time consuming to do this and Number!" AND SERIOUSLY HOW WRONG COULD I BE? Even though through the years I got busier and busier, and I even mentioned I wanted (or was trying) to retire, I still ended up working on manga, mainly because of the friends I made here at Sense, and even ended up taking over as an Administrator with Tammi a few years back.

When I look back over my time in Sense, it was really a lot of fun, and I really made a lot of friends, even if they're no longer within the group (or never were in the first place). And it really does hurt a bit to retire since I put so much time and effort into this god-forsaken hobby. But, over the past year or so scanlation slowly became less and less enjoyable. Mainly because of some of the stupid hate I was getting. Which really, it is stupid. They sound like broken records now. Go get a life But even excluding those people, it was gross to go onto other sites, even those of competitors for some series, and see people harassing or threatening them either in defense of us or because they slowed down or well... whatever reason. It was gross. I mean yeah #notallleechers but in the end, it really was gross.

That being said, as much as I could lecture people about not being dickwads on the net (that'd be a failing battle right there), I'm not leaving because I'm "bowing to the 'all-mighty power' of the assholes" (pffft) but because life has come knock'n and it wants me to pay more attention to it. I'm going to miss Sense, and maybe scanlation. I'm sure none of the staff are going to miss my manga hells (I bet they're praising the lord we never went through with Halle Hell). But, surprisingly, my exit matches more-or-less up with Gyokuen's final act, and like her act, I'm going out with a final boom as well. One last release hell! Enjoy it! I wish Sense and the new admins and newbies the best, and I hope they can do well without the Maou breathing down their necks. lol

Tammi

I first joined Sense originally for AKB49 back in 2011, I had been working with Sense on a joint project and the idol-group manga caught my eye.

I've done some shady shit, but I like to think it had a positive outcome. Magi was moving slower than a snail's pace, so I helped organize the 'take over' of the project at another group just to light a fire under their butts. It worked, after we released a few chapters the admin had a hissy fit and got their shit organized. Later I would go on to kick that same admin out of our group. It's been a great 4 years; from the super successful 'Magi Hell' to the much less successful 'AKB49 Hell', from picking up projects to organizing take overs. We've had quite the rollercoaster. There are things I would change of course, but Sense-scans has gotten to a point where it's a relatively well established group and I'm more than happy with the quality of our work.

To everyone who has been involved, I've enjoyed making good friends, better enemies, but most of all I've enjoyed producing quality content with all of you. I've gotten to a point in life where I'm no longer able to keep up the commitment of being an Administrator, but we've found very capable folks to take over. Here's to another few great years of sense!

Now as to the release itself, we've got a total of 24.5 chapters we're releasing across 11 series! Please enjoy them!

Today we bring to you:
- Mother Keeper 50-50.5
- Number 38-40
- One Week Friends 25-26
- Rain 49-51
- Shoukoku no Altair 54-57
- Hallelujah Overdrive 19-20
- Youkai Apato no Yuuga na Nichijou 17-18
- Sinbad 46
- Magi 251.5
- Magus 1v2, 11-13
- Hakkenden 17

PS. We might have one or two more chapters to post over the next 24 hours, look forward to those ;)

Thanks for the chapters, but also thanks for dropping Magus. Your cleaning, image quality, and typesetting are excellent as usual, but your Magus translations are often inaccurate enough that it is difficult to understand the plot. It was a bit odd since the rest of the translations I've seen from Sense have all been praiseworthy.

I'm not crying I just got some confetti in my eye....

Everyone worked so hard for this but I'm both relieved and sorry to see it done now that Sense will lose its administrators. Aoi and Tam have more than earned their retirement and we'll absolutely do you proud!

I've had such fun at Sense and I'm so glad to celebrate the anniversary knowing we'll continue forward from here  :D

Happy Birthday and Thank you Sense-Scans! Goodbye Aoi and Tammy have fun!

Question for the Altair series, how close is it up to date with the raws? I just want to know if I'm safe to browse other sites without fear of being spoiled if it happens Sense is behind some chapters. That really ruined the magic for other series and I don't want it to happen with this one!

There are currently 83 raw chapters of Altair, which is released monthly, so we are a fair bit behind (around 4 volumes to be precise).
