pen and fill tool works nicely for the larger things but you can burn at final size (1200px for most of our mag series). Use range: shadows, exposure: 30-40%, brush hardness 100%
You just have to be careful that you don't make any edges too jagged.

Hey there, I dont have an exam tomorrow so i took the night off and thought i would lend a hand.

Before Tammy yells at me and says that i'm wrong, these are the settings i use

Select smart sharpen
(click to show/hide)

My settings for sharpen
(click to show/hide)
Keep the radius at 1.5.

My denoise three
(click to show/hide)
Have suppress noise between 0.5 and 1.3 (Any lower and it doesn't make the patterns distinct enough)
Recover Details between 0-0.50
Clean between 0.50-1.00
Reduce blur 0.10-0.50

Desnoise 5
(click to show/hide)

With denoise 5 preferably use two run throughs ar lower settings than one big one

and with the denoising depending on the page, it's up to your judgment to decide how much the image needs you don't want the image losing too much detaill or becoming sharp
Go: Denoise 3, denoise 5, denoise 5 (optional), level at 8000px, denoise 5.
For denoise 5, the max your reduce blur should be at is 0.25. anything between 0.10-0.25 is all right, anything more and the image becomes too sharp.

As for leveling, it's really about using judgement. Be at a zoom where you can see a significant area of the page (a part including blacks, whites, and patterns) then move the sliders around and change them according to what happens to each part of the page.

I  have Topaz Denoise 5 and Topaz Clean 3

I am also using Adobe Photoshop CS6 Extended
Those are fine. But you will have to download and install denoise 3 as well:

I don't really understand what Denoise is for and what am I trying to blur out and how much is enough of blurring.
As for denoise. You should sharpen the page before denoising to make the patterns "pop out" a bit.
You're denoising to get rid of the dirt on pages, the black spots and imperfections on the parts that should be gray.
As for denoising, you should use first denoise 3: Set all the sliders to 0, then move only the Suppress Noise, clean, and reduce blur sliders.
After the initial denoise 3 use denoise 5. Move the Overall str and reduce blur sliders only.

Next is Leveling, how do you know how far to level? Drag too little of the white marker the page becomes yellowish, and too much it becomes too bright. As for the other markers, I just estimate how far to drag without any real experience so yeah.

After that I tried to blur but when I blur, it isn't completely black at all, there are a number of white spots on the places that should be fully black like the shirt and pants. What am I doing wrong?
Level after denoising at 8000px height. This way it's really hard to over level. If your page is becoming yellowish, then you haven't made the page grayscale mode before leveling.
Do this every time: Image > Mode > Grayscale mode.
The black marker should be on the right of the first hill. The white marker should be on the left of the 2nd hill. If that makes sense, if not ask and I'll post a picture.
Also don't use the blur tool, or use a surface blur after leveling. If there are white spots then you aren't denoising and leveling properly. If they're still there after proper denoising then you should wait until you downsize to final size (1200px-1300px height) then burn at that time.

Teaching denoise is a bit hard, but it also depends on what raws you're try to work with.
AKB49 is one of the harder series to clean that we have, but if you're willing to learn then go ahead and ask some questions.
I have no idea how to give advice just off the bat. I can't teach, but I can help your cleaning improve.

What versions of Denoise do you have?
What version of Photoshop do you have?
What raws are you using?

please translate more, since there is a huge fans of magi out there waiting magi to be translate, :'(
#note: if you can make it up into less than 10 chapter behind, it's ok, but 20? it's a huge gap there  ???
Get me a bunch of competent magazine cleaners, then we'll talk.

SPAM Palace / Re: How did you get into anime/manga?
« on: August 25, 2012, 07:58:26 pm »
I would watch Anime that my grandparents had on video tapes when I was about 7 or 8 years old. I started watching Anpanman and found it entertaining even though I couldn't understand what was being said. When I was about 10 y/o I found One Piece Volume 1 by VIZ in a local comic store and decided to give it a read.

Only a few years later would I find out about OneManga and start reading things online. Before I found out about online reading I'd bought all of VIZ's releases (up to date at the time) of: Rurouni Kenshin, Dragon Ball, Whistle!, HunterxHunter, Naruto, Dr. Slump,  and would buy the monthly shounen jump released by VIZ. I ended up spending $1000+ on manga before finding out I could read online. Yay for summer jobs...

SPAM Palace / Re: type of music you listen to

I don't see Jazz on that list.
It really depends on my mood but: Jazz, Rock, Instrumental, Techno, Classical, Soundtracks, etc.
No Metal usually, I don't like that or Dubstep unless I have a headache.
